RHODESIAN RIDGEBACKS RE-HOMED IN 2014

Below are brief details of Rhodesian Ridgebacks re-homed during 2014. We would like to offer our deepest thanks to all of their new owners for giving these boys and girls another chance.

These are the lucky ones but some are left behind; still seeking those special people to offer them another chance.

Could you be one of the special ones? If you think you could be please go to the Re-Homing Page for further details.

 Thank You.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks Re-Homed in 2014
Tess - is staying with her fosterers!
Age 7 Years
Female

Tess is 7 years old and needs a new home due to her owners ill health. She is neutered and microchipped. A fit and strong girl who will need firm but sensitive handling. She loves human company and so needs a new home where the owner will, at least in the early days, be at home most of the time.

She is uncertain when meeting strange dogs out on walks so needs to learn how to greet in an appropriate manner. She has lived with cats. Not with children, but has been fine when they have visited. She is currently being fostered in a multi dog household and is being very respectful of the resident dogs.

Lulu - Has been re-homed
Age 11 Years
Both Female

Elsa - Elsa's back end quite suddenly gave out on her just last week. She couldn't get up, neither would she eat. Sadly, the vet recommended the kindest course of action was to help her on her way across Rainbow Bridge. We are so sorry Elsa.........

Due to their owner's bereavement Elsa and Lulu are looking for a new home. Since they have always been together, ideally we would like to re-home them together.

We are told that both are of good nature but neither has ever lived with children.

Elsa may need a little more care and attention as she has a trapped nerve in her spine for which she occasionally requires pain relief. Boisterous dogs worry her, she prefers to spend her days gently pottering around and hoping for the occasional sausage, which she loves.

Lulu on the other hand is as fit as a fiddle, gets on with other dogs and enjoys going for her walks.

Do you have a welcoming fire, or radiator, for these two to curl up in front of?

Phoebe - Has found her new home! More Here
Age 8 Years
Female

This is Phoebe, one of the Trust’s rescued RR’s who we have been fostering since May: now I think it’s time that we find her a forever home of her own.

Coming from a breeding establishment, not a lot was known about her other than she was around 7/8yrs old and appeared to be a very sweet-natured dog - we didn’t even know if she was house-trained! I can confirm that she is and suspect she has once lived indoors as she has been unperturbed by washing machines, hoovers, doorbells and the general melee that is household living today.

Once here, there were a couple initial grumbles at our two RR girls (age 4 & 2), but as they ignored such bad manners, it didn’t take long before small interactions were taking place and within a very short space of time they were sharing beds, toys and generally rubbing along well and there has been nothing to upset that cohabitation since. Although Phoebe had her eye on the couch, we didn’t think that appropriate for her and with only a couple of re-directions, she has been content to confine herself to other dog beds or her crate where she settles and sleeps quite happily at night or if we go out.

Updated 20th July 2014

Phoebe and Mia (below) have recently come to us from a breeding establishment. They have always lived outside and may require some house training. Both are very sweet natured.

Could you offer one or other of these girls a comfy spot in your home, during their retirement years.

Being a very recent arrival, as yet little is known of Maisie except that she appears to be the innocent victim of a relationship breakdown.

Dora - Has found her new home!
Age 7 Years
Female

We know little of Dora's history but it would seem she has to some degree been passed from pillar to post!

While she has been with us she has shown to be of excellent temperament. She is affectionate, loves a fuss and doesn't appear bothered by the other dogs; in fact nothing much seems to bother her.

Could our own "Dora the Explorer" be for you?

Zeus 2 - Has found his new home!
Age 5 Years
Male

Sadly Zeus is back with us.

Having been re-homed earlier this year, it seems while with his new owners Zeus showed some aggression to other dogs when out. He has shown no aggression to people or to other dogs while at the kennels.

He will need an experienced and understanding new owner who will be prepared to work with him to overcome his fears.

Do you have the necessary skills and patience to help Zeus?

Updated 23rd July 2013

Another Zeus!

Recently arrived, he seems a lively and good natured chap, must be the name!

Is he for you?

Henry - Has found his new home
Age 3 Years
Male

Another dog in the household appears to have taken a sudden a dislike to Henry, and they are fighting. Clearly we don't know exactly what has happened but it sounds as if Henry wasn't the instigator. Sadly for him, he was the one who had to go.

Would you consider Henry as a companion?

Sam - Has found his new home!
Age 4 Years
Male

Sam is a very lively dog who would best be suited to someone with good knowledge and experience of the breed. He will need help to calm down and will also need some perseverance with house training. Although he will need some training, he learns quickly and walks reasonably well on lead. While at the moment very bouncy, he has a lovely temperament.

Do you have the time, knowledge to help Sam?

Kai is a good natured boy and apparently is good with both adults and children. He can be a bit excitable around bitches and, as with a lot of the boys, may take exception to entire males butting in!

Is Kai for you?

Titan - Has found his new home!
Age 5 Years
Male

Titan now has his own Facebook Page Find Me on Facebook

It's now over 18 months since Titan came to us, although many have considered him, all have rejected him; poor boy.

He has turned out to be a fun loving boy at his best with human company. It's true he's not the most handsome boy in the world but he more than makes up for that with his personality.

Wont somebody give Titan a go? After all, we all know how sometimes, the ugliest frog turns out to be Prince Charming!

Updated 3rd March 2014

Re-homed June 2014

Titan has made tremendous progress since he arrived with us in August 2012. He now enjoys playing with toys, cuddles and lots of fuss. He eats well and looks forward to his walks.

It seems the secret to success with Titan is taking things slowly and not demanding too much from him.

He would do best with an experienced owner, could that be you?

Updated 10th November 2013

Not only has Titan lost his home but he is now in a kennel environment which is causing him great distress. He has a nice nature but desperately needs human company. He can't be left alone for too long, except at night when he settles quite calmly in his bed.

Have you the time to devote to this boy?

Due to a change in his owners circumstances, Buzz is looking for a new home. He is the litter mate of Jessie, detailed above.

We are told Buzz is a playful and happy boy if a little excitable. He is curious of other animals and a little wary of strangers when out. He will probably do best with an experienced owner who has plenty of time to help him with socialisation. He has lived with children.

Do you have the time for Buzz?
