RHODESIAN RIDGEBACKS RE-HOMED IN 2009

Below are brief details of Rhodesian Ridgebacks re-homed during 2009. We would like to offer our deepest thanks to all of their new owners for giving these boys and girls another chance.

These are the lucky ones but some are left behind; still seeking those special people to offer them another chance.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks Re-Homed in 2009
Leo - Has Been Withdrawn Age 12 Months Male Leo is a typical teenager and will need a very experienced owner. He cannot be re-homed with small children.
Charlie - Has found his new home! Age 15 Months Male We are informed that Charlie is a calm well adjusted laid back boy. He is of very good nature, travels well, is good with other dogs, good with children and good on the lead. Can you find a place in your home for this gentle boy? Re-Homed December 2009
Zimba - Has found his new home! Age 9 Years Male Due to a change in his owner's circumstances, Zimba is looking for a new home. He is reported as a placid dog who is good with children and other dogs. He does not like to be left alone for long periods. The photo of Zimba was taken in May of this year, he's looking pretty good for a nine year old. Re-Homed December 2009
Shaka Age 4 1/2 Years Male Satara Age 4 1/2 Years Female Happily Shaka and Satara's owners have managed to re-home them together! Shaka's and Satara's current owners are emigrating; unfortunately it is impossible for the dogs to travel with them. We are informed that Shaka is a very confident and playful boy, adored by all. A handsome gentle giant. And that Satara is a beautiful sweet natured intelligent girl who likes nothing better than a good gallop around the fields. They are such good friends that ideally we would like to re-home them together. Do you have the time and space in your life for this striking pair?	Shaka Satara
Mia - Has Found Her New Home Age 18 Months Female Unfortunately we have only the sketchiest details of Mia. Due to a change in her owners circumstances, at the moment she has to be left alone for a large part of the day. Re-Homed November 2009
Meg - Has found a new home!! Age Approximately 2.5 years Female Meg has been fighting with her companion so consequently is looking for a new home. She is very timid but so far at the kennels she has not been a problem with other dogs. Do you have the experience to help this young lady. Re-Homed November 2009
Petra  - Happily will be Staying with her current owners!! Age 8 Years Female Sadly, Petra's owner has died and his immediate family can't take her as they already have three dogs of their own. We are told that she has the sweetest of natures. Can you offer a cosy spot for her remaining years?
Bodie - Has Found a New Home! Age 2 Years Male Due to a change in his family's circumstances Bodie is looking for a new home. While having no obvious hang ups, he is a strong dog that at the moment requires a head collar when being walked. Can you devote the time that he needs? Re-Homed October 2009
Rio Has Found a New Home Age 2 Years Male Rio is a kind if boisterous young male who is having to be re-homed due to a change in his owners circumstances. He has lived with a ten year old and is reported as good with children. As with many ridgebacks he will bark at people at the door but is fine if they are invited in. Re-Homed September 2009
Arnold - Has Been Rehomed Age 7 Years Male Re-Homed August 2009 Polly - Has Been Re-homed Age 7 Years Female We only have sketchy details at the moment of Arnold and Polly. They are brother and sister and have always lived together but never permanently in a house. However, recently they have been spending the night in a kitchen without problems. Re-Homed July 2009
Enzi - Has Found His New Home! Age 2 Years Neutered Male Due to a change in his owners circumstances Enzi is looking for a new home. Although of good character he is boisterous and chases anything that moves! He is good with people and while apparently fine with children has never lived with them. He does live with another dog quite happily but is territorial with other local males. Can you spare the time and effort that he so clearly needs? Re-Homed July 2009
Edie - Her owners have managed to re-arrange their lives enabling them to keep her! Age 2 Years Spayed Female Due to a change in her owners circumstances Edie needs a new home. Apparently she has no hang ups but is very boisterous! Re-Homed July 2009
Becks - Has found her new home! Age 6 Years Neutered Female Becks is looking for a new home. She is reported as being good with children and visitors but a bit timid with other dogs. She does not get on with a male dog at home. Re-homed June 2009
Ellie - Has found a new home! Age 3 to 4 Years Neutered Female Ellie is reported as being good with regular visitors to the house while ignoring others. She has never had any contact with children but is apparently fine with other dogs although she will avoid them outdoors if she doesn't know them. She is OK with cats. Re-homed June 2009
Sasha 3 - At long last Sasha has found her new home and settled very well! Age 3 to 3 1/2 Years Approximately Female Having recently been re-homed by her previous owner, sadly it didn't work out.  Sasha is once again looking for a new home. Reported as of good character she has previously shared a home with a family including three children. She is a bit "gappy" missing some front teeth after a less than perfect landing when jumping a fence! Sasha has an intolerance to gluten, so she will need to be fed a gluten free diet. Update on Sasha 3 - We have at last been able to make contact with Sasha's owner, so once again can offer her for re-homing. It seems that her Gluten intolerance may have resolved itself, having recently been fed on normal food. Re-homed June 2009
Durban - Has found a new home! Age 6 Years Male We are informed that Durban is a calm and well trained boy. We don't know how he would react to living with another dog but apparently he is fine with other dogs while out and on his own. We are told  he is good with children visitors and cats. Would he suit your household? Re-Homed June 2009
Else - Has found a home on dry land, umpteen acres of it!! Age 3 Years, 4 in May 2009 Spayed Female Else's family have moved to live on a boat but sadly she is not the nautical type - she doesn't like it! She is good with children, not at all destructive and very well house trained. She can be a little excitable with other animals but soon settles. Can you offer her a home on dry land? Kinza - Has found a new home in the Cheshire countryside! Age Approximately 7 Years Spayed Female Due to a change in her owners circumstances Kinza is looking for a new home. She is spayed and is reported of very good nature. While she has  not lived with very young children, she should be fine with older ones. Update on Kinza - Kinza is now in kennels. She appears to be very friendly and gentle. Is she for you? Re-Homed May 2009
Elsa - Has been found a new home by her owner Age 6 Years Female We are informed that Elsa is good with children but is likely to bark at strangers outdoors. She is playful and boisterous but good with other dogs.
Max - has been re-homed with the aid of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Scotland Age 4 Years Male Due to a change in his owners circumstances, Max is looking for a new home. We are informed that he is good with children and other animals.
Kamara - Has found a home with a previous adoptee "Tigger"!! Age 2 1/2 Years Male We are informed that Kamara is an excitable but friendly boy. He is good with his current family's children but has never had any real exposure to others. He is wary of other dogs and scared of cats; well, he is a ridgeback!!
Bez - Has Found a lovely new home! Age Approximately 3 Years Male Picked up as a stray this young man is still being assessed. So far he seems to be well adjusted. Update on Bez - Clearly as a stray we have no idea of Bez's history. Although a little wary at first he is showing no sign of nastiness or aggression.
Lenny - Has found his new home! Age 2 Years Male While Lenny is good with people,  he and his Rottweiller girlfriend have fallen out subsequent to his castration! Consequently he is now looking for a new home. While in kennels it has become evident that Lenny is not good with other dogs so would need to be re-homed as an only dog. People are a different matter, he loves everybody!!
Dave - Has found a new home and settled in straight away, as can be seen from the pictue below right!! Age 3 Years Neutered Male Dave is a much loved boy looking for a new home due to a change in his owners work patterns. While he will guard his home, Dave is fine with visitors once they are invited in. He has been witnessed running on the beach with other dogs without a problem. Holly - Has found her new home already!! Age Approximately 2 Years Female This young lady was picked up as an emaciated stray. She is improving with good food and proper care. Further details to follow since she is still being assessed.
Mea - Has found a new home with experienced ridgeback people. She appears to have settled immediately! Age 2 Years Female Mea currently lives with another ridgeback, a 4 year old female. They have taken a dislike to each other and so now Mea is looking for a new home. Despite the differences between the two girls Mea may be OK with other dogs. We are informed that she is fine with children. It should be noted that Mea does suffer with a Dust Mite allergy.
