Below are brief details of recently re-homed Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We would like to offer our deepest thanks to all of their new owners for giving these boys and girls another chance.

These are the lucky ones but some are left behind; still seeking those special people to offer them another chance.

Recently Re-Homed Rhodesian Ridgebacks
Fifi - Is off to live with one of her current owner's relatives! Age 20 Months Female Poor Fifi has not had the best start in life. While with her first owners she was badly injured after falling down some steps with the result that one of her front legs had to be amputated. Now her current family have to move home and she is unable to go with them. We are informed that she is good with children and rabbits!? but not other dogs.
Harvey - The good news for Harvey is that he will now be able to stay in his current home! Age 3 Years Neutered Male As yet we have only the sketchiest details of Harvey. We are told that he is a good natured dog - good with children.
Bern - Has found his new home! With another dog for a companion he seems to be enjoying life to the full!! Age 12 Months Male Berne is a 12 month old puppy who is seeking a new home. Due to his owners circumstances unfortunately he is confined to the house for most of the time. He is very boisterous and will require some basic obedience training and house training since he his not fully clean. Ideally he would be best re-homed with someone experienced with ridgebacks or at least with experience of another large breed. A sensitive and patient approach will be needed from his new owners.
Maxi - Is now able to stay in his current home. Age 6 Years Male Due to a change in Maxi's owner's circumstances he is looking for a new home. We are informed that he is good with other dogs, with visitors and with children, although he has never lived with them. His one vice seems to be cats, he doesn't like them!
Taff - At long last Taff has found a lovely home. He has gone to live with Scooby (see below). A new home and a lady friend! Can't be bad!! Age 4 Years Male Taff is a very confident dog who is very happy and relaxed with people. Unfortunately he cannot live with cats or other small animals. he would best be re-homed as an only dog or possibly with females of similar size to himself.
Robert - Has been Re-homed by the RSPCA Age 18 Months Male Robert is currently in the charge of the RSPCA in Preston. Details Here
Simba - Has settled well in his new home and even appears to have been accepted by the resident cat!Currently at Home Age 4 Years Male Due to a change in his owners' personal circumstances, Simba is looking for a new home. Having lived with young children of ages four, seven and nine he is used to and good with them. He accepts cats and is OK with other dogs as long as they are not pushy with him. He doesn't like being left alone for too long so ideally he would best be re-homed with someone who could be with him for most of the time.
Lennie - Has found his new home and has settled well to the country life! Age Approximately 2 Years Male Lennie is a stray who has recently arrived at the kennels. He is a big strong lad but has a lovely nature and is good with people.
Duke 2 - Has found a new home Age 12 Months Male We are informed by his current owner that Duke is good with practically everything that he encounters. Has lived with a teenager, is good with other animals, including other dogs, and accepts strangers without a problem.
Sam - Has found his new home and settled in beautifully Age 6 Years Male Sadly for both Sam and his current owner, circumstances dictate that they must part. Later in the year his owner is going to live abroad in a flat within a tower block and realises this is no good for Sam. Can you offer this boy a chance to keep his feet on the ground?
Monty - Has found his new home and is set to spend his adult years hill walking! Age 8 Months Male Due to a change in his current owners circumstances Monty is looking for a new home. A castrated male he has lived with children aged 9 and 6 of whom he is said to be quite protective. He is said to be fine with visitors to the home and other dogs. As with many male ridgebacks of his age he will need sympathetic but firm handling.
Buster - Buster has found his new home with Marmalade, an older ridgeback female, who no doubt will keep him in check! Age 12 Months Male Buster hasn't had the best start in life and likely has been beaten. He has only been in kennels for a few days and while still very apprehensive of initial human approach soon comes out of himself and becomes a playful puppy. He will need an experienced and gentle owner, and require sensitive handling.
Kuma - Has at long last found his soul mates! He has a lovely new home where we hope he will be very happy. Age 2 1/2 Years Approximately Male A Castrated Male, Kuma needs to be re-homed as an only dog and in a home without small children. He is jealous of other dogs which is why he had to leave his previous home.
Kuda - Has found a lovely home and settled in immediately. Age 6 Years Male Having been brought from an all breeds rescue kennel, little is known about Kuda. We are informed that his family are having to move to smaller premises and there is no room for him. However, he has been checked or handled during his move by no less than four of our rescue volunteers all of whom have the impression that Kuda is of sound temperament.
Bailey - Has found a lovely new home. Age 16 Months Male Bailey is a strong and boisterous dog who appears to have had very little in the way of training. We are told that he very much enjoys the outdoor life. Ideally he would be suited to someone experienced with big dogs.
Spike - Currently at Home Age 7 Years Male Unfortunately we have been unable to contact Spike's owners. Accordingly we can no longer offer him for adoption. Unfortunately due to a change in his owners circumstances lovely Spike is looking for a loving new home. He is a really laid back character of excellent temperament and good with children. Would almost certainly settle as an only dog or with bitches, since he seems to have no desire to wear the trousers!
Tilly - Has found a lovely home with an 8 month old puppy to take under her wing! Age 9 Years Ridgeless Female Sadly, Tilly and her family have had to part. Due to work commitments the family have had to move abroad and circumstances dictate that Tilly cannot go with them. Sporting very distinctive "silver points" she is a very gentle and sweet natured grand old lady. Can you offer the soft bed and warm affection that she has been used to?
Scooby - Has now found a lovely new home Age 4 Years Ridgeless Female Due to a change in her owners circumstance, Scooby is looking for a new home. She is good with people but is certainly not happy around small dogs. However, she may do well with dogs of her own size.
Dino - Dino is now staying with his original family. Age 2 1/2 Years Male Due to unfortunate circumstances Dino is looking for a new home. We are informed that he is of good nature and used to meeting people, including children although he hasn't lived with children. He can be a little wary of other dogs when out. June 2008
Buddy - Buddy has now found a new home. Age 2 1/2 Years Approximately Male Buddy is a well cared for boy who was found wandering in the Leeds area wearing a harness. He seems to be of lovely character and is pleased to meet anybody. He may need some coaxing to get into a car but even lifting him in doesn't phase him!! Re homed June 2008
Righteous - With the help of the good offices of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Welfare Trust, Righteous has found a lovely new home. Age 4 Years Male Ideally Righteous should be re-homed with somebody who has experience with big dogs. He has had little in the way of socialisation, which we are working on at the moment, and should not be re-homed with small children. Re homed June 2008
Bart - It seems that Bart no longer needs to be re-homed Age 4 Years Livernose Male Since the introduction of a third dog into his pack, Bart is now fighting with his old companion and therefore needs to be re-homed. We are informed that he has lived with children but their ages have yet to be confirmed. Further Details to follow.
Kitu - It seems that Kitu no longer needs to be re-homed Age 2 Years Male Due to an unfortunate change in circumstances Kitu, who is neutered, is now looking for a new home. Further Details to follow.
Zy - Fortunately Zy's original owners have managed to arrange things so that they are now able to keep him - He has gone back home! Age 7 Years Male Unfortunately due to a change in his owners circumstances Zy is looking for a loving new home. He doesn't like to be left for long periods and when in the past he has been, he has been destructive. However, at the kennels he has been the perfect gentleman, not touching a thing. Could you give him the chance of a new life?
Sampson - Has found a lovely new home and settled in without any problem. Age 9 Years Male Unfortunately due to a change in his owners circumstances this old boy is now seeking a loving new home in which to spend his twilight years. Although a little wary of other dogs when out, he currently lives with a dog and cats. He is used to teenagers and is described as lovable, quiet and lazy, liking nothing more than laying by the fire or in the sun! Re homed April 2008 - more here
Holly - It seems at last has found her soul mate! Holly and her new owner dote on each other! Age 5 Years Female Holly is another girl who is suffering from a lack of socialisation as a puppy. More than this she has been teased by a young child and as a consequence does not get on with them. Holly would need to be re-homed as an only dog in a household without children.
Ekky - Current owners are working at keeping him with them. Age 18 Months Male Due to an unfortunate change in circumstances Ekky is now looking for a new home. Further Details to follow.
Poppy - Has found a lovely new home Age 1 Year Ridgeless Female Poppy has been re-homed once during her short life. Unfortunately she didn't get along with the other dog in the household. She is good with people but may have to be re-homed as an only dog.
Simba - Has found a lovely new home Age 20 Months Female Due to the children in her household developing an allergy to her, Simba is looking for a loving new home. She is Miss Placid, very calm and of course used to children. Is she for you?
Max & Zeta - Now have a lovely new home together and have settled in brilliantly! Max Age 12 Years Male Zeta Age 14 Years Female Max & Zeta have lost their home due to a change in their owners circumstances. At the moment we only have a picture of Max, a pure bred gentle grey old boy who enjoys the odd plod around. Zeta, who is a Ridgeback Cross, while a couple of years his senior is still quite lively. Both are of super temperament and quite enchanting. These two dote on each other and must be re-homed together. They would love to have the luxury of a nice soft cosy bed that they could snuggle into together, preferably in front of a roaring fire - or radiator! Do you have one to offer?
Sasha 2 - Has now found a loving new home. Age 12 Months Female Not to be confused with the Sasha listed above, this is Sasha 2! Due to a change in her former owner's circumstances, Sasha 2 is looking for a loving new home. Not big in stature(can one use petite to describe a ridgeback - perhaps not!) and although a little apprehensive, she is very good natured and has lived with small children. At the moment she is proving not to be the most accomplished traveller.
Fudge - has now found a new home! Age 8 Years Female Unfortunately due to a change in her owners circumstances gentle, yet active, Fudge is now seeking a loving new home. She loves nothing better than the company of people and loves to play. She is good with other dogs and currently lives with a cat. If you can offer a nice comfortable life, lovely Fudge could be your girl!
Sasha - has been re-homed by her former owners Age 5 Years Female Unfortunately due to a change in her owner's circumstances Sasha is looking for a loving new home. She is impeccably behaved with her current owner's young children, is good with big dogs but doesn't like small ones. She has taken a dislike to hats, which is not unknown in ridgebacks! While she is housetrained she has had the occasional "accident" when unable to access the garden. This small problem should be easily overcome.
Abbie - Abbie has now found a lovely new home Age 4 Years Female It would seem that Abbie has had little in the way of socialization. A little on the nervy side she is better with women than men and would need an experienced owner.
Biba - Biba has now found a new home! Age 11 Months Female Biba came to us as a very frightened puppy only a matter of a few months old. While she has made progress she is still quite nervous and would need a quiet home with a very experienced owner.
Nero - He has now settled with his brother so will be staying in his original home Age 8 Months Male Nero is one of two litter brothers who have lived together since birth. Sadly they are now fighting with one another and consequently Nero is looking for a new home. He should settle as an only dog or possibly with adult female(s).
Max - Max has found a new home! Age 10 Months Male Max is a very boisterous youngster who is just about entering his doggy teenage years! He is good with people and has been good with his owners grandchildren and horses. While there are no obvious problems he has been destructive and would probably best be re-homed with an experienced owner.
Otis - Otis has found a new home! Age 7 Months Male Otis is a big bouncy baby who has lost his home through tragic circumstances. He has been beautifully cared for and has a lovely temperament. He is used to children and has lived with a cat! A lovely boy.

All enquires about these boys should be directed to them on 0151 480 0660 - WE ARE INFORMED THAT BOTH THESE BOYS HAVE BEEN RE-HOMED TOGETHER!! COFI AGE 7 & MONTY AGE 10 Both Male Likes and dislikes: These two have been together all of Cofi’s life and so we wouldn’t want to separate them. We’d love to see these two get a home together. They are here at the Merseyside Centre as their owner started to work longer hours and didn’t have the time needed to care for these lovely boys. Type of home needed: TThey both mix well with other dogs and we’d recommend that they go to a home free from children under the age of five, simply because the are big, strong boys. They are both strong on the lead and so would need an owner who would be able to handle the two of them when out and about! They both have a few lumps and bumps so they are offered on the Dogs Trust foster scheme.
