While we do our best to give an honest opinion of all dogs that need re-homing, it must be stressed that all too often details which accompany these recycled Ridgebacks are at best sketchy and sometimes incorrect. However, below are photographs and brief details of just a few of the dogs that are looking for new homes.

Rex - Being Fostered
Age 8 Years
Male - Neutered

Update on Rex - 27th June 2018

Rex has been in kennels with us for a few weeks. Sadly, at 8 years old, the “kennel life” is not really suiting him and so he has gone off to a lovely family to be fostered. Fostering, as you know, is always supposed to be a temporary affair just as a stop-gap until the right home can be found. So, as it stands, Rex is receiving all the love and stability that a family home affords rather than being in kennels, but we do still very much need to find him his Forever Home.

So that you can decide if Rex might be the boy for you, let me tell you a little bit more about him. He is a beautiful light wheaten coloured 8 year old boy. He looks in absolutely superb condition, and in no way looks his actual age. He adores people and will make a wonderful companion. Sadly, he was not socialised as a youngster and he finds other dogs a bit of a challenge, so he will need to be with an experienced owner who will not put him in positions with other dogs that he would find stressful. To this end, he will need to be an “only pet” and sadly this does include cats too.

Apart from in our paddock at the kennels, Rex has never been allowed off his lead and we would recommend lead walks only for him, but he is certainly very fit and will gladly walk as far as you want to go with him. He travels very well in the car and enjoys a good mooch about in the garden. Rex just wants to be loved and will happily give out, and receive, as much affection as he can get.

Updated 27th June 2018

Rex is the most friendly dog around humans, very calm and relaxed.  Following our recent assessment he has demonstrated that he is a dominant boy, reacting to other dogs if they came near to him both on and off lead. He needs an experienced ridgeback owner and, since he is a strong boy, someone equally strong that can keep him under control and teach him some manners.

Rex enjoys his walks, travels well in a car and like all ridgebacks enjoys lounging around in the sunshine!

Do you have what Rex needs..........

Recently Re-Homed Rhodesian Ridgebacks

Should you feel that you are not in a position to be able to offer one of these dogs a home it is possible to help in other ways. Various events are arranged each year in support of Rescue including a Christmas Party and Spring/Summer Fun Day. Fun and games are the order of the day at both events with good food and social ridgeback chat in abundance. For the more adventurous there is even a chance to take part in agility; no, not for humans, just the dogs, have you seen our committee!!!!

Apart from supporting these social occasions you may alternatively, or indeed as well as, like to make a monetary donation to Rescue funds. This can be made as a one off payment or a monthly payment for which a standing order can be set up. Should this idea tickle your fancy please contact our treasurer -

Our re-homing policy dictates that:-

Taking on an adult Ridgeback can be very rewarding for both parties. Experience shows the vast majority of adoptions are happy and successful. Few dogs are un-trainable and will respond to firm sensitive handling coupled with kindness and affection. Once you have gained their confidence and respect they will reward you with affection, loyalty and a great deal of enjoyment.

If you need help or advice we are only a telephone call away.
