Open Show in Aid of Rescue 2008

Sunday 12th October, the date of the Club Open Show in Aid of Rescue, dawned a typical Autumn morning, thick fog! However, Committee Members, Exhibitors and Supporters arrived in ever increasing numbers to be rewarded with one of the best days of the "Summer"!!

While proceedings followed the normal pattern of a club show, everyone seemed to have the welfare of those unfortunate Ridgebacks that need new homes at the forefront of their minds. To this end many people had made their own efforts and contributions that hopefully would help swell the coffers of the much depleted rescue fund.

Particular mention should be made to the efforts of two committee members who were the driving force behind this project, Janice Ellis and Peter Broadbent. Janice our rescue coordinator is usually working away quietly in the background while Peter is more vociferous, working away "noisily" in most places!! On this occasion the whole Broadbent family were in evidence in the kitchen, serving a breakfast of the obligatory bacon butties with copious amounts of tea, followed by various gourmet delights for lunch.

Everyone seemed to have an enjoyable day and although the final tally is not yet in, much needed funds were raised for rescue.
