Ridgeback Rescue

Hello There
Just to update you on Dave
He has settled into our home, feels like he has been here years.....toys
everywhere...muddy foot prints all over...etc.
He
has been away with us to Wales to meet family and their pets..he was
instantly great mates with my husband's mother's dog Tam...they had a great
time on the beach and ended the day in front of the fire together...and he
is so wonderful to our aunts lab puppy who is a 4 month old terror...
Janice found us a real gentle giant.....
He enjoys about 5 miles a day in two walks through the dales and a small jog
to the shops and back... ...even in the rain and snow...although he does
like his cosy dog coat...and refuses to leave the house if its raining,
without it...
He
is a strong lad so we use the halti, he is friendly to all who he meets. In
fact he has become well known in the village on his evening walks as he has
a little LED flashing light on his collar. This caused a real stir in the
fields one night as a couple thought it was a UFO.... SPINNING TOWARDS
THEM.....so funny... the talk in the post office the next morning!!
After 17 years in the village with only us and our ridgebacks we now have a
couple with two puppies male and causing chaos, a guy with a rescued 9 year
old and a couple moving in up the road who has one young female
ridgeback....so its great to meet them in the fields..
Our vet says Dave would make a wonderful PAT dog and we are just enrolling
him to do his citizenship awards....
We are still discussing perhaps offering to have another one...because we
all fall out over who is walking him and generally end up all going....and
we are all used to having two plodding about....
We think its a bit early yet so we will wait....Dave loves other dogs so we
may consider getting a puppy later in the year..unless a younger one comes
up for re-homing....we plan to come to the July funday as its so close to
us.
Thanks again
June Milner
